Woman To Watch: "Bomb Tech" Alex Mealer Steps Up

Alexandra del Moral Mealer recently announced her campaign for Congress in Texas’s 9th District. A West Point graduate, combat veteran, wife, and mother of two, Mealer brings a unique mix of military service, Harvard JD/MBA credentials, and private sector experience as a former energy finance executive.

As an Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer in the Army, Alex demonstrated her ability to lead in times of crisis — guiding soldiers through combat missions and safely defusing bombs during her deployment in Afghanistan.

Mealer is no stranger to tough political battles. In 2022, she ran a strong grassroots campaign against liberal Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo. Since then, she’s remained active in Houston politics, serving as Public Safety Chair for METRO Houston and supporting conservative candidates across Harris County.

Thanks to redistricting in Texas, TX-09 is a newly drawn safe Republican open seat. Alex started strong out the gate — raising over $575,000 in under 40 days.

Working Family Tax Cuts

American Action Network launched a $3.2 million digital ad buy boosting House Republicans for supporting tax cuts on overtime pay. As Punchbowl News reports, the ad buy also attacks battleground House Democrats who opposed working family tax cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill. You can watch a sample ad here.

The ads are running across 25 Congressional Districts and include WFW PAC-endorsed Rep. Jen Kiggans (VA-02) and Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01).

De La Cruz's Liberal Challenger

Last week, liberal Bobby Pulido launched a campaign against WFW PAC-backed Rep. Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) in a border district the DCCC has on its list of targets. Pulido is a Tejano music star who has never run for office, and as the NRCC points out, will have a difficult time running from now-deleted social media posts in which he claimed a border wall "isn't effective."

WFW PAC has been proud to support Monica for years, and we are excited to be in her corner again this cycle.

Spotlight On: Cynthia Lummis

The WFW entities are committed to supporting women on the right leading in Congress. This week, we're thrilled to highlight Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming. As someone who has dedicated decades of her life to public service, we are proud to support her as she continues to deliver for her state and her country.
