John,

It's Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes. This week, I joined a multi-state lawsuit against Zillow and Redfin for creating an anticompetitive monopoly in the rental housing market that will drive rent costs even higher.

Here's what happened: Zillow paid Redfin $100 million to stop advertising multifamily rentals and terminate its existing contracts. This eliminated critical competition and gave Zillow unfair dominance in the market for rental listings.

The result? Landlords will pay more to advertise, and they'll pass those costs directly to renters.

Arizonans are already facing an astronomical cost of living. Housing is unaffordable. Rents keep climbing. And now these massive companies want to create an unfair advantage that will make everything worse.

This is exactly the kind of corporate greed I'm standing up against.

I'm joining Connecticut, Virginia, New York, and Washington in this lawsuit because Arizona families deserve a competitive market, not a rigged system that benefits billion-dollar corporations.

My office is already suing RealPage for colluding with nine major landlords to jack up rents. Now we're taking on Zillow and Redfin for the same reason.

These companies claim their agreement is "pro-consumer." That's a lie. Eliminating competition harms renters and the millions of Americans who rely on these sites to find housing.

But my opponents want an Attorney General who won't take on corporate monopolies.

Can you contribute $10 to help me defend access to affordable housing in Arizona? [ [link removed] ]

Affordability is the top issue for Arizonans right now. When corporations rig the market to increase their profits at renters' expense, someone has to stand up.

Thanks for having my back,
Kris
