TELL CONGRESS: Trump has bombed three boats coming from Venezuela that he claims carried so-called “narcoterrorists.” Now, the GOP is pushing legislation that would give Trump sweeping powers to go to war against any country he claims harbors “narcoterrorists” — echoing the disastrous War on Terror. Sign the petition: Stop Trump’s illegal wars. Pass a War Powers Resolution now!

<p>Trump is ramping up tensions with Venezuela and putting America on the edge of war in the Caribbean.</p>
<p>He bombed a third boat coming from Venezuela that he claimed carried so-called “narcoterrorists”<small>1</small> — another <strong>lawless act of aggression</strong>. <em>The New York Times</em> reports that the U.S. buildup of naval ships and spy aircraft in the Caribbean signals a <strong>broader military campaign against Venezuela</strong>.<small>2</small></p>
<p>And now, the White House and Republicans in Congress are pushing a bill that would <strong>give Trump sweeping powers to wage war against “narcoterrorists”</strong> and countries he claims are harboring or aiding drug trafficking — legislation that dangerously echoes the disastrous War on Terror.<small>3</small></p>
<p><strong>Representative Ilhan Omar and Senators Adam Schiff and Tim Kaine have introduced a War Powers Resolution</strong> to reassert Congress’ authority over the White House and stop Trump’s illegal warmaking — and all of our lawmakers must support it immediately.</p>

<p><strong>“There was no legal justification for the Trump Administration’s military escalation in the Caribbean,” Representative Ilhan Omar said after introducing a War Powers Resolution</strong> in the House.<small>4</small></p>
<p>Sen. Kaine said, “President Trump has no legal authority to launch strikes or use military force in the Caribbean or elsewhere in the Western Hemisphere.”<small>5</small></p>
<p>It’s a critical moment to halt Trump’s extralegal military operations before the White House drags the U.S. into war with Venezuela — and, quite possibly, other countries like Mexico. One law professor said of the MAGA bill in Congress that authorizes Trump to go after “narcoterrorists” across the world, “It’s insanely broad. <strong>This is an open-ended war authorization against an untold number of countries, organizations and persons that the president could deem within its scope.”</strong><small>6</small></p>
<p>Congress must act quickly and pass a War Powers Resolution to prevent Trump from dragging us into more wars. </p>
