Hi John, it's Betty.

I want to take a moment to thank you. Over the past couple of weeks, you’ve heard a lot from me and my team as we worked toward a critical fundraising deadline. Because of your support, we reached it with strength and momentum.

But I understand if that seems hollow today.

Thousands of Californians are watching their careers put on pause, all for a game by an unserious, cruel, hateful Republican leadership. And with Donald Trump threatening the use of the most lethal military forces in the world in our own cities, calling blue states, “the enemy within.”

Government must reflect the values and priorities of our communities, not the whims and fever dreams of small-handed, small-minded incels and wannabe dictators.

But once again, it is painfully clear that the evil rot festering in the White House, and his bootlicking Republicans in D.C. not only do not care about us, but actively want to break us.

They don’t understand the resolve we Californians have. We don’t allow kings or despots in our state, and we will fight through these mounting threats.

As Governor, I’ll make sure you’re protected, even when D.C. won’t.

And from the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with us. It’s clear we have a lot more to do.
