This week, Donald Trump once again proved that he is not fit to be president. As he and his congressional Republican lackeys shut down the government, we were met with glaring proof that he is not equipped for the challenges, responsibilities, and weight that come with the job. Not that we didn’t already know that. 

 

To be fair, Trump is an obese 79-year-old who was, even in his prime, neither stable nor a genius. The bluster, the constant lying, and the performative cruelty were always there. But as often happens with age, his decline has become more noticeable.

 

Consider his meeting in the Oval Office with congressional Democrats. Rather than discuss how to lower costs for millions of Americans, the enfeebled president tried to hand his guests tacky campaign hats. When that failed, he posted childish memes and videos online like a middle school troll.

 

Watching the scene, I couldn’t help but wonder...
