Family and Friends,

At midnight Wednesday morning the Democrats allowed the government to shut down. What does this government shutdown mean for you, the constituents of the Illinois 11th Congressional District and Americans across the country? It means National Landmarks and National Parks are closed, no paychecks for Military and Federal Employees, it threatens WIC and SNAP programs, senior programs, TSA operations, just to name a few.

The American people deserve a government that works for them, not one that shuts its doors because of politicans who are holding funding hostage to extend free healthcare to illegal immigrants and other extreme policy positions. Families and businesses across our district live within their means, and it’s time that Congress did the same. We cannot continue writing blank checks and kicking the can down the road. This government shutdown is a failure of leadership on the Democrats in Congress to work with the Republicans, and the only path forward is restoring fiscal responsibility, securing our priorities, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent wisely.

As your next Republican representative, I will fight to balance the budget, reduce wasteful spending, and keep the government open and accountable to the people it serves.
