We Will Not Rest Until Religious Liberty Is Restored

On Monday, the Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty held its third hearing, which I was honored President Trump appointed me to chair, at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C.

At the request of the President, we opened with a special panel on violence against people and communities of faith. Friends of Charlie Kirk shared moving testimony about his steadfast commitment to faith, free speech, and religious liberty, even as he has faced targeted attacks.

Tragically, Charlie’s story reflects a growing trend across the country: physical violence, and even murder, directed at people of faith, the ultimate violations of religious liberty. These acts are un-American, and they threaten every community in our nation. The Commission stands with President Trump in condemning this violence, finding its root causes, and doing everything possible to end it. We will not rest until we do.

The hearing also highlighted another growing front in the struggle for religious liberty: our schools. Teachers and coaches testified about the harassment and threats they endured for living out their faith, and how they were forced to choose between their beliefs and their jobs. Even after victories at the U.S. Supreme Court, some schools continued their hostile attacks.

No American should ever have to suffer such discrimination. Our Commissioners left with renewed conviction that restoring First Amendment protections in education is essential to safeguard both teachers and students.

We have five more hearings ahead before we deliver our final report to President Trump with our recommendations on how to restore religious liberty in America after four years of Biden’s attacks on people of faith.

The Largest Investment in Mental Health Care in Texas History

I left D.C. and traveled to Dallas on Tuesday to tour the new mental health care hospital the state is building with local partners.

As Lt. Governor, I launched a statewide program over the past few sessions to expand mental health facilities from the Panhandle to East Texas and beyond. Texas did not have enough mental health care beds for adults, children, and teens in need. My initiative represents the largest investment in mental health care in Texas history, and in the country.

Please Vote for Proposition 14

More than 500,000 seniors in Texas are living with dementia, most of them with Alzheimer’s disease. This condition affects not only patients, but also deeply impacts their families and caregivers. Proposition 14 mirrors the successful cancer research program we launched a decade ago by bringing top researchers to Texas to study prevention, treatment, and hopefully, one day, a cure for dementia.

Thank you for all your support over the years and for everything you do to keep Texas red. May God bless you and your family, and may He continue to bless the greatest state of all—Texas.

Sincerely,

Dan Patrick
