![]() John, For the first time in six years, Republicans shut down the federal government. Now, troops and many federal employees will have to work without pay because of the GOP’s foolish and reckless decision. If our troops and federal workers are getting screwed by this shutdown, then members of Congress sure as hell shouldn’t be cashing paychecks. That’s why I’m a Co-Sponsor of the "No Pay for Congress During Default or Shutdown Act" to block congressional pay during a government shutdown like this one.
Here’s the reality: more than 3 million federal employees, including 67,000 right here in Pennsylvania, are at risk because of the government shutdown. That’s not by accident. It’s because DC Republicans with full control in Washington couldn't do their job. They skipped town and won’t do anything to work with Democrats to lower costs and protect healthcare for the American people. It’s pathetic, and it’s wrong. If the hardworking Americans who make this country run are going to be screwed over because of the Republican shutdown, then members of Congress shouldn’t receive a paycheck until a deal is reached. No excuses. No loopholes.
Thanks for taking action, Chris |
