Office of Governor Tony Evers *FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:* October 3, 2025 Contact: [email protected]    *Gov. Evers Signs Bipartisan Bill to Prohibit Misuse of AI-Generated Images *   MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers signed a bipartisan bill to ensure the state’s criminal code is updated to reflect the increasing use and potential misuse of artificial intelligence. 

Senate Bill 33 [ [link removed] ], now 2025 Wisconsin Act 34: 
* Expands the crime of representations depicting nudity; 
* Defines “synthetic intimate representation”;  
* Prohibits posting, publishing, distributing, or exhibiting a synthetic intimate representation of an identifiable person with intent to harass or intimidate them; and 
* Prohibits making a reproduction of a private representation of an individual if they did not consent to the making of the reproduction.

The bill will take effect the day after publication.
