John,
Banned Books Week starts next week. This annual tradition celebrates books that have come under fire. But at Run for Something, it’s not just about what is on the shelves. It’s about who gets to shape kids’ futures.
Right now, Trump has shuttered the federal government and is dismantling the Department of Education. Meanwhile, extremists like Moms for Liberty are stacking school boards to erase LGBTQIA+ kids, sideline communities of color, and ban books.
That’s exactly why Run for Something launched our 50 State School Board Strategy. We recruit, train, and support young, diverse progressives to run for school boards everywhere. Because if we change who’s in the room, we can change the decisions that get made.
Will you make a donation of $10 right now in honor of Banned Books Week and our shared fight to elect more young progressives to school board seats?
Here’s the reality: there are more than 100,000 state and local offices out there. We’ve built the biggest progressive pipeline in politics, but we have to scale fast if we want to take back our schools from far-right extremists.
In honor of Banned Books Week, I’m asking you to chip in. Donate $10 or whatever you can to help us elect candidates who will defend public schools, protect students, and stop book bans in their tracks.
