I want to take a minute to personally explain to you what's happening with the federal government right now.

🔵 Funding for the federal government ran out at midnight last night, and it's the job of Congress to pass a new budget that funds critical services like Medicaid and Social Security, and restores the ACA subsidies that the Republicans cut in their big, ugly bill.

🔵 But Republicans tried to bully us into approving their healthcare budget slashes – and I'm proud that Democrats refused to budge. In fact, Republicans refused to negotiate with us until the day before the shutdown.

🔵 And now, Trump and the far-right are retaliating. Trump ordered MORE mass layoffs across federal agencies. He's seriously throwing a tantrum because he didn't get his way.

Republicans allowed this shutdown to occur, make no mistake.

We won't give in to their threats and bullying tactics, team. Democrats are prepared to fight for however long it takes to ensure you have access to the crucial services you need.
