Friend, exciting news – Efrén C. Olivares, NILC's Vice President of Litigation & Legal Strategy, has been named to the 2025 TIME100 Next list! This annual list honors 100 emerging leaders who are shaping the future, and we are proud to see Efrén recognized among those leaders.
For nearly two decades, Efrén has worked as an advocate and litigator focused on immigrants’ rights and border issues. As an immigrant and the first in his family to attend college, his lived understanding of the challenges faced by immigrant communities drives his commitment to justice.
In his career, he has represented clients in federal and state courts, as well as international human rights bodies — including hundreds of immigrant parents who were separated from their children at the border under Trump’s Zero Tolerance policy.
We are honored to have Efrén’s leadership at NILC at a time when we are witnessing unprecedented assaults on immigrants’ rights and threats to our democracy. In fact, just two weeks ago, our legal team secured a critical victory: stopping the Trump administration’s attempt to illegally deport unaccompanied Guatemalan children, ensuring their protection while our case proceeds.
At a time when the Trump administration is trying to silence immigrant voices and undermine our work, Efrén's recognition in the TIME100 Next list is proof that our work and our leaders are making an impact.
Congratulations, Efrén!
