On Tuesday, Trump and Congressional Republicans shut down the government, all because they refuse to pass a funding bill that lowers health care costs for families.
And like clockwork, the propaganda machine has been out in full-force. Trump is desperately trying to blame the shutdown on Democrats — even though Republicans control the White House, Senate, and House.
But we know the truth, and it’s a simple one: at a time when our health care system is already collapsing, the GOP is hellbent on pushing through a funding package that would double or even triple premiums for millions of families.1
We need to ensure that Senate Democrats continue to hold firm against this violent, dangerous funding proposal. And pressure Republicans to put their constituents before the whims of the tyrants in the White House.

Thousands of you showed up for our mass call last night to apply pressure on Congress in the wake of this shutdown. And for that, we thank you.
But this is no time to take our foot off the gas.
Trump and his MAGA cronies know that their ideas are historically unpopular.
They know that their policies have made it nearly impossible for millions of working families to make ends meet.
But it’s too late for them to undo the damage, so instead they’re going to keep looting, keep pillaging, and hope that they can lie and deceive their way out of taking the blame.
We can’t let them succeed. Nor can we let Democrats cave to these demands — not when the livelihoods of millions are at stake.
