Dear Friends, As of September 30, I have stepped away from my role at NRCAT after serving for 12 years on our national staff. I am leaving NRCAT to be at home full-time with our young daughters. It has been a great privilege to work alongside the staff, board, allies, volunteers, advocacy partners and each of you over these 12 years as I’ve witnessed first-hand your commitment to mending the broken places our work has touched. The times we are living in call for a recommitment to live out our values as people of faith and conscience, and I feel that I am leaving NRCAT in very good hands. I urge you to continue to support the work of the NRCAT team. One of the last projects I worked on was to help develop a series of new NRCAT resources for faith and community advocates to share, including our “how to” webinar training series, our new NRCAT print materials, and our NRCAT Bonfire store where you can “wear your values.” I also want to take this opportunity to share a new NRCAT slide presentation that presents NRCAT’s history and campaigns - view as an online slidedeck or download as a PowerPoint file. Please use it to invite your religious community into a deeper engagement with our work to end torture forever. The NRCAT team has been an incredible family to be a part of, and if you would like to make a donation today to support the next chapter of NRCAT’s work, I would be honored. May God speed the day when our work to end torture is no longer necessary. I will continue to stand with you in the struggle until then. With gratitude, Laura Laura Markle Downton, M.Div. NRCAT Director of Faith & Community Engagement PS – For all future inquiries, please contact Rev. T.C. Morrow at [email protected] and she will make sure your note gets to the right person.
