The fact is that many USDA-licensed dog breeding facilities, sometimes called puppy mills, often force animals to live in squalid conditions, without adequate food, water, sanitation or veterinary care for illness or injury. It’s a nightmare that leaves tens of thousands of dogs sick, traumatized or dead. But the AKC’s actions show that it’s more concerned with profits than the health and safety of vulnerable puppies and dogs.

It looks like the AKC will keep giving cruel and careless puppy mills a free pass, as long as it can profit from pedigree registration fees. The puppy mill industry pays the AKC millions of dollars per year—and uses these registrations to conceal its cruelty and deceive buyers!

But Humane World Action Fund, formerly called Humane Society Legislative Fund, is committed to fighting for mother dogs, puppies and all animals who need us. We’re counting on your help to fight back against the AKC’s attempts to block the Puppy Protection Act from becoming law. Please, take a brief moment to send a message to your representatives and urge them to support commonsense laws like the Puppy Protection Act now.
