** 1. FOX NEWS: Republicans Erupt Over Shutdown Chaos, Accuse Dems of Holding Government 'Hostage'
------------------------------------------------------------

"The government entered a shutdown just after midnight Wednesday after the Senate failed to advance a short-term federal funding bill called a continuing resolution (CR) hours earlier. The measure did not reach the necessary 60 votes to overcome a Senate filibuster — falling 55-45 — with just three Democrats joining the GOP on Tuesday night.

Certain federal services will temporarily cease to function, and some government workers — including the military and air traffic controllers at airports — must continue to clock in under deferred pay."

** 3. DAILY SIGNAL: ‘SHOCKING’: FDA Approves New Abortion Drug
------------------------------------------------------------

"The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a new abortion drug.

The drug, which is a generic version of the abortion pill mifepristone, was quietly rubber-stamped by the agency in a letter Tuesday, with reports only surfacing of its approval on Thursday.

The drug’s approval took many by surprise, as it followed Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Sep. 19 announcement that the FDA would be reviewing mifepristone’s safety."

** 4. CAROLINA JOURNAL: ‘Foster Crisis’: Why Fewer NC Families are Signing Up
------------------------------------------------------------

"Drugs have led to more families in crisis. A hesitance to remove children has led to more children being left in traumatic and abusive environments for much longer. COVID led to many families choosing not to foster, and these families haven’t returned. The support systems are largely seen as chaotic and frustrating. And in consequence, there are nowhere near enough warm beds to put the state’s abused and neglected children.

As a PBS NC report from earlier this year highlights below, the state has over 10,000 children in foster care but fewer than 6,000 licensed foster families (and many of those aren’t currently looking for new placements). With no homes available, the children sometimes end up sleeping at the ER or on cots at the county Department of Social Services."

** 5. DAILY SIGNAL: ‘Woke’ Insurance CEO Said Bill Barring Men From Women’s Bathrooms Was A ‘Threat To Democracy’
------------------------------------------------------------

"The CEO of the ‘wokest insurance company’ in America once said that a bill to keep men out of women’s bathrooms was a 'threat to democracy,' a watchdog organization revealed.

Chubb Corporation CEO Evan Greenberg attacked North Carolina Republicans over a 2016 bill aimed at protecting women’s privacy, video discovered by Consumers’ Research shows. Operating across 54 countries, Chubb Insurance is the largest commercial lines insurer in the United States."

** WEEKLY PRAYER: Life
------------------------------------------------------------

LORD, we recognize that you are Sovereign over all creation. We recognize you made man from the dust, and in your mercy, you crowned creation with man and woman made in your image. What a wonder it is that you would bestow upon us this blessing and responsibility!

LORD, may we not take this blessing for granted. We pray that this great responsibility and dignity may motivate us to love You, our neighbors, and our families more. LORD, may we as a culture truly see and believe that children are a blessing from the LORD—born or unborn; able or disabled. All children should have an opportunity to experience the liberty of life. LORD, make us your vehicle to change our culture into one that cherishes and protects life. Keep at the forefront of our minds our responsibilities to respect, cherish, and serve the youngest and oldest in our society.

“At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, ‘Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.'” (Matthew 18:1-6)

Sincerely,

Tami & Team
