Strengthening Property Rights
|
Here in Indiana we place high value on property rights, which is why Indiana has maintained strong residential entry and criminal trespass laws. This year, Senate Republicans supported a new law that expedites the process allowing owners to remove someone from their property who never had permission to be there in the first place, commonly known as a "squatter."
Senate Enrolled Act 157 creates a process allowing a homeowner to sign an affidavit stating a squatter who does not have legal rights to be on their property is occupying it. Once that affidavit is turned into a law enforcement agency, that agency must act as soon as practical to remove the squatter from the property.
Indiana is one of five states that has recently enacted this kind of legislation.

Celebrating Fall in Indiana
The arrival of Autumn in Indiana brings many fall festivals as leaves begin to change colors.
These celebrations occur throughout the state and provide great opportunities to see our Hoosier Hospitality at its finest.

Meeting with Community Members Over Coffee
|
Recently, as a part of Greater Grant County's "Coffee with..." series, I got the chance to meet with community members at Marion Design Co. to discuss the latest updates regarding state laws and answer questions from community members.
We had a great discussion, and I look forward to attending this again in the future!
