THE ACTUAL "ENEMY FROM WITHIN"  --  CARTOON AND COMMENTARY BY ANN
TELNAES

Trump lays the groundwork for using the military on dissent.

_Senator Joseph McCarthy used the same term “enemies from within”
in his speech to the Ohio County Republican Women’s Club in
Wheeling, which launched the 1950s red scare. I doubt this was a
coincidence by Trump’s speechwriter._

_Trump is using the once independent DOJ to go after his political

PALESTINIAN STATEHOOD  --  CARTOON AND COMMENTARY BY NICK ANDERSON

_At last, a few of America’s closest allies are saying out loud
[[link removed]] what
has been morally obvious for decades: Palestinians deserve a state of
their own. Britain, Australia, Canada, and Portugal have formally
recognized Palestinian statehood, joining more than 150 U.N. members
who have already done so. Their coordinated declarations are more than
symbolic. They are a rebuke to the ongoing nightmare in Gaza. A crisis
that can no longer be explained away as collateral damage in an
endless war._

RE: TOM HOMAN TOOK $50K FROM UNDERCOVER FBI AGENTS. TRUMP’S DOJ SHUT

It wasn't a bribe because Homan wasn't a federal official when he
accepted it.

      =====

Vivian Kahn that's narrow legalism. In common understanding it was a
bribe. It was still illegal under a different statute, but they hope
to catch him fulfilling the contract of the bribe after assuming
office. They didn't count on the general corruption of the Trump
administration.

He isn't the Border Czar. He's the Bribery Czar.

I am so glad to see that they passed a resolution for a ceasefire in
Gaza and an end to US arms sales to the Zionist state and divesting of
Israeli bonds, and publicizing the horrors being carried out by the
Zionists and the US government against the Palestinians.

GREAT!! Thanks for that report...

He was not a nice person. He doesn't deserve his face on currency or

deserve any honor at all except from the KKK, maybe.

RE: GLOBAL LEFT MIDWEEK — SEPTEMBER 24, 2025

My friends, this has been a maddening, terrifying, infuriating week in
the US. But beside all the stampeding fascism, this has also been a
week that has seen the spread of youth revolt in distant corners of
the world. It's a bigger, more furious, more focused clash of class
interests than the late 60s. Read this week's Global Left Midweek

THE REVOLUTION WILL BE CROCHETED  --  MEME

TODAY, WE RELAUNCH THE COMMITTEE FOR THE FIRST AMENDMENT

This Committee was initially created during the McCarthy Era, a dark
time when the federal government repressed and persecuted American
citizens for their political beliefs. They targeted elected officials,
government employees, academics, and artists. They were blacklisted,
harassed, silenced, and even imprisoned.

The McCarthy Era ended when Americans from across the political
spectrum finally came together and stood up for the principles in the
Constitution against the forces of repression.

Those forces have returned. And it is our turn to stand together in
defense of our constitutional rights.

The federal government is once again engaged in a coordinated campaign
to silence critics in the government, the media, the judiciary,
academia, and the entertainment industry.

We refuse to stand by and let that happen. Free speech and free
expression are the inalienable rights of every American of all
backgrounds and political beliefs – no matter how liberal or
conservative you may be. The ability to criticize, question, protest,
and even mock those in power is foundational to what America has
always aspired to be.

We understand that this is a frightening and confusing moment for many
people. We recognize that we represent just one group of many who are
under threat right now. Across classrooms, libraries, factories,
companies and workplaces of all kinds, Americans of every walk of life
are facing intimidation and censorship too — and we stand with them.

We know there is power in solidarity and strength in numbers. We will
stand together—fiercely united—to defend free speech and
expression from this assault. This is not a partisan issue. That is
why we urge every American who cares about the First Amendment—the
cornerstone of our democracy—and every artist around the globe who
looks to the United States as a beacon of freedom to join us.

And to those who profit from our work while threatening the
livelihoods of everyday working people, bowing to government
censorship, and cowering to brute intimidation: we see you and history
will not forget. This will not be the last you hear from us.

In Solidarity,

About the Committee

The Committee for the First Amendment is a large collective of
artists, storytellers, and cultural leaders standing together to
defend free expression against government repression, industry
complicity, and intimidation.

Free speech is not partisan — it is the cornerstone of democracy,
the lifeblood of art, and a global beacon for freedom. History has
taught us: silence is complicity, and solidarity is our only defense.

THE FORMATION OF THIS COMMITTEE IS NOT A WARNING SHOT. THIS IS THE
BEGINNING OF A SUSTAINED FIGHT.

We draw inspiration from the original Committee for the First
Amendment, when artists like Lauren Bacall, Lucille Ball, Judy
Garland, Humphrey Bogart, Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, and Henry Fonda
stood together against attacks on the First Amendment during the
darkness of the McCarthy era. Today, we continue in that spirit:
preparing for what’s coming, resisting with non-cooperation—but
always non-violence— when needed, and ensuring our collective voice
is loud and purposeful in these dangerous times.

Inspired by our history.

In 1947, the original Committee for the First Amendment produced a
two-part radio program — that aired on the ABC Radio Network — to
express outrage at government infringements on free speech, stand in
solidarity with their targeted colleagues in the film industry, and
publicize the frightening implications of a United States without
freedom of expression. We are moved by their courage to speak truth to
power and alarmed by how relevant their words are today, 78 years
later.

Stand with us now.

[[link removed]]

Our industry—and artists around the world—have a long history of
refusing to be silenced, even in the darkest times. We face a powerful
assault today, but we still have our voices, each other, and the
freedom to express ourselves. Let’s speak out before it’s too
late.
