There’s a pretty obvious reason why Donald Trump wants me out of Congress: I don’t fit his mold of what a “Kansas politician” should look like.

And John, he’s right. I do stand out in Washington — and I’m proud of it. I’m the first LGBTQ+ Native American woman ever elected to Congress. I was raised by a single Army mom, paid my own way through college, and even had a career as an MMA fighter before I ran for elected office.

Maybe that background doesn’t make me a “typical” politician. But I think that’s a good thing.

But Donald Trump disagrees. Instead, he wants to end all competitive Congressional elections in Kansas and install a hand-picked, far-right extremist in my place.
