Dear Friend,

The outpouring of support from our PBS News community in response to Mike’s email below has been inspiring. We have just $19,000 left to go to unlock the full $50,000 matching gift offer, but we only have hours left to do it. Please take advantage of the chance to double your impact by increasing your monthly gift by $5, $10, $15, or more, by midnight tonight.

Remember, if you increase your monthly gift by midnight, it will be doubled for an entire year

Thank you for being a loyal supporter and important part of the PBS News Hour community!

Alyson Brokenshire
Senior Director, PBS News Hour Principal and Major Gifts

Dear Friend,

Today marks a historic moment — the first day in 50 years that PBS News Hour operates without federal funding. For more than half a century, federal support through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) helped sustain independent, trusted journalism for millions of Americans. CPB closed its doors yesterday and that funding is now gone — but our mission, our values, and our commitment to you remain stronger than ever.

We are not going anywhere. Sustained by the generosity of the American public and powered by your support, PBS News Hour is committed to providing audiences with thoughtful, distinctive, and trustworthy journalism for decades to come.

The most powerful way you can help sustain PBS News is by becoming a monthly donor of $10, $25, $50 or whatever you can afford. Your reliable support will help us survive this federal funding loss, ensuring our newsroom has the stability to deliver in-depth, fact-based reporting every single day.

Any monthly gift you make before midnight tomorrow will be doubled for an entire year, thanks to a generous Friend of the News Hour stepping forward with a special matching gift opportunity, up to $50,000.

Unlike corporate-owned media outlets, we answer only to you — not advertisers, not shareholders. In an age of polarization and misinformation, we remain committed to providing the most objective and trusted journalism that empowers our communities, fosters open civil dialogue, and strengthens our democracy.

Become a monthly donor — your gift doubled

This is a pivotal moment for PBS News – and your monthly gift by midnight tomorrow – doubled for an entire year – will keep us strong.. Together, we will show that our vital and trustworthy journalism can endure, because of you.

With gratitude and determination,

Sincerely,

Michael Rancilio,

EVP, Chief Content Officer and
General Manager of PBS News Hour

P.S. This is also the first day without federal funding for your local PBS station. Please support programs that educate, enlighten and engage in your community including PBS News with your gift to your local PBS station now.
