Hi Big,Justice Christine Donohue has authored decisions that directly impact your life — from preserving access to abortion to protecting equality under the law. Her rulings have ensured that your rights are upheld, regardless of your circumstances. She hasn’t been a judge for politics; she’s been a judge for justice.

* In February 2024 , she authored a 3–2 majority opinion overturning a decades-old precedent to apply Pennsylvania’s Equal Rights Amendment to laws that burden people based on pregnancy. Her work made clear that laws treating pregnancy differently are sex discrimination. That means laws denying abortion access or restricting reproductive health access must face stricter review.
* She joined with Justices Wecht and Dougherty in reviving a lawsuit that challenges a state law limiting Medicaid funding for some abortion services. This ruling put into motion real legal underpinnings for reproductive autonomy for low-income women.
* She was also part of the Supreme Court majority in the 2018 decision declaring Pennsylvania’s Congressional district map an unconstitutional gerrymander. The result was more fair representation in Congress.
