I recently had the privilege to sit down with the Los Angeles Times to talk about the climate crisis, my journey through activism, and why the work we're doing at JanePAC matters more than ever. I'd love to share some of my thoughts with you.

I’ve always believed that if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
My path to founding JanePAC wouldn’t have been possible without grassroots supporters like you, John.
It started in 2019 when Greta Thunberg and the youth climate movement inspired me to step up. She asked, “Where are the older people?” So I showed up. I helped launch Fire Drill Fridays.
I protested, I lobbied, and I got arrested. But it still wasn’t enough. Too many politicians — Democrats and Republicans — take money from the fossil fuel lobby.
That’s when I realized that to truly move the needle, we needed more than passion. We needed political power. That’s why I started JanePAC.
If you can’t change the people, change the people.
We focused our efforts (and we still do) on the critical races that rarely make headlines: state legislatures, city councils, school boards, utility commissions. These down-ballot races fly under the radar, but they have the biggest impact on climate policy and the communities on the frontlines of this crisis.
And that's when politicians started listening. They saw the power of our grassroots organizing. They saw supporters who refuse to accept the climate crisis as someone else's problem.
Since 2022, we've helped elect over 160 climate champions nationwide. In 2024 alone, we supported 154 campaigns and won 96 races. This year, we already have 7 victories under our belt.
And we're just getting started. Trump and his allies are attacking our democracy and our climate at the same time. But here's what they don't understand: we're not going anywhere.
I'm 87 years old, and this is what I'm going to be doing for the rest of my life. I refuse to stand by while our planet burns. And when I look at this movement we've built together, I know we have the power to win.
Thank you for being part of this movement.
xx Jane
