Dear Green American,

My name is Anya. For the last couple of weeks, you’ve received emails from me touting sustainable fashion—why it’s important, how we can prioritize and support it, and what, exactly, it is.

Fashion is important to me ([link removed]). It gives me confidence, it sparks my creativity, and it helps me feel authentic as a nonbinary person. Clothing has always been more than just pieces of fabric we wear. As my colleague Mary observed, we’re constantly “watching fashion change with the societal zeitgeist.” Not only does fashion change, though, it speaks.

It’s never just a dress. It’s never just a shirt. And that’s why it’s so important we make sure our clothing is just in all ways.
