When: Thursday, October 2, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Where: Online
Fee: FREE

Birding is for EVERYONE! With inclusive practices, we can make this incredible hobby welcoming and accessible for all.

As stated by Birdability Captain and NVBA Diversity & Inclusion Committee Chair Jo Doumbia in her recent blog:

When we design programs with accessibility in mind, we don’t just help others: we strengthen our own community. Accessible trails and viewing platforms mean families can bird together. Clear communication and welcoming environments make first-time birders feel at home. Inclusion helps us live out the truth that birds belong to everyone.

Who is Birdability? Birdability is a nonprofit dedicated to sharing birding with people who have disabilities while ensuring that the hobby is accessible for everybody. As such, Birdability Week, held during the third week of each October, is a celebration of birders with disabilities or health concerns.

TONIGHT at 7:00 PM, DC Bird Alliance , Northern Virginia Bird Alliance, and Birdability are co-hosting a free educational webinar open to all. The session will be presented by Executive Director of Birdability, Cat Fribley (she/her).

Cat will guide us through Birdability’s mission, share best practices for accessibility in birding, and help us look ahead to this year’s Birdability Week.

This webinar is for anyone interested in creating safer, more welcoming spaces for all birders. We hope to see you there!
