We can’t talk about gun violence without talking about the stories of Evelyn Valdes and Frank Ordoñez. You can read about the incredible young people they were by turning to page 36 and 66 in the 30 under 30 magazine.
Frank and Evelyn were both innocent bystanders when crimes were taking place. According to what we hear over and over through the media and news, if armed police officers are on the scene we should be safer right?
Evelyn and Frank had their lives stolen by police fire. They should be alive right now. They were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. And the myth that “good guys” with guns keep us safe became nothing more than another lie from the gun industry.
We don’t need more guns. We need gun safety legislation. We need to protect our children. Enough lives lost to senseless violence. Enough families torn apart.
Gun violence perpetuated by the police isn’t talked about enough, John. At March For Our Lives we know that we won’t truly be free from gun violence until we address every aspect of this American epidemic.
