Yesterday, JD Vance stood at the podium in the White House press room and repeated a lie that he and his GOP colleagues have been spreading for the last week.


Republicans have to lie about this because the truth is much harder for them to spin: The government is shut down right now because the Republican budget will jack up health care costs for millions of Americans, and they refuse to work with Democrats to find a solution.

Listen, I’m an immigrant to this country. I have navigated this system. I know far more about the benefits that immigrants are eligible to receive than a con-man like JD Vance. And personally, I believe healthcare is a human right that should be guaranteed for all, regardless of income, background, or immigration status.

But the fact of the matter is that undocumented immigrants do not have access to the federally funded health care plans that Democrats are negotiating to protect.

They can’t get Medicaid plans. They can’t get Obamacare plans. But this administration will never miss a chance to blame all their problems on immigrants, truth be damned.

So once again, here are the FACTS: Republicans are holding the government hostage so they can raise health care premiums by 75% for 20 million Americans and throw millions more off their health care.

If this budget passes as-is, rural hospitals will close across the country, life-saving prescriptions and treatments will skyrocket in cost for the working class, and thousands will die every year because they can’t afford care.

Stephen, Republicans control the White House. They control Congress. It’s time for Republicans to grow up, stop lying to the American people, stop scapegoating immigrants, stop abusing your power, and negotiate with Democrats to end this healthcare crisis and protect the health and the wallets of working class Americans.
