Texas ICE Facility Shooting

In the latest string of political violence in our country, a gunman opened fire on an ICE facility in Dallas, Texas last week. Three people were killed. In the investigation following the attack, law enforcement found messages of anti-law enforcement that were particularly targeted toward ICE.

Attacks on our law enforcement and the rule of law must stop. Lawlessness should never be tolerated in America.

Government Shutdown

Two weeks ago, the House of Representatives voted on a continuing resolution, that I supported, to fund the federal government until the end of November. In a town like Washington, D.C., keeping government spending flat is a win.

But now, the Senate Democrats have allowed funding to lapse and the federal government is currently in a shutdown. Unfortunately, Democrats are playing partisan games in order to preserve roughly $400 billion over 10 years in unnecessary subsidies for health insurance companies. I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to ensure that taxpayers are put first.

Protecting Western Civilization

Clips on social media have circulated Sharia law protests occurring in Texas and throughout our country. There is no question that Texans and Americans have the right of religious freedom. However, Sharia law provides a clear and present danger to a functioning western civilization, the American way of life, and our judicial system.

Considering the recent events, I co-sponsored Rep. Randy Fine’s bill, H.R. 5512, the No Sharia Law Act last week. This bill would ensure that no U.S. court, public agency, or legal institution can ever enforce or legitimize Sharia law. Texas should be subject to the advancement of Sharia and radical Islamists, who are undermining Western civilization.
