Why we are 350: Scientists overwhelmingly agree that 350ppm CO2 is the upper limit to sustain life as humans have lived it. For more than 800,000 years atmospheric CO2 varied between roughly 180 to 280ppm.

   Our Earth passed 350ppm CO2 during 1988!

Mauna Loa Observatory - We are now approaching 430ppm!
On many days we're up 1.6 to 2.5ppm from last year

Join us for a powerful regional protest stretching along Sheridan Road from the Wisconsin–Illinois state line all the way into Racine. This is a peaceful, multi-group demonstration to protest authoritarianism and build solidarity, unity, and community power across Indivisible chapters and allies.

We’ll be lining up on the sidewalks of Sheridan Road, linking arms and holding signs as one visible, united front. All groups will gather at their assigned meeting location below and spread out along the sidewalks at noon.

Climate
Justice and Just Transitions
Professor Leah Horowitz, UW

Join 350 Wisconsin and Professor Leah Horowitz for a conversation on climate justice and just transitions. During the meeting, we will discuss how climate change impacts different groups in different ways, how climate change and social justice are deeply intertwined, and what the Climate Justice movement demands. Then, we can examine how the energy transition itself -- moving away from fossil fuels and toward renewables -- can exacerbate pre-existing social inequities. Finally, we will explore what opportunities and challenges are involved in supporting an energy transition that also respects communities’ livelihoods and Indigenous Peoples’ relationships to the environment.

About our speaker: Leah S. Horowitz, Ph.D. (she/her) is an Associate Professor with a joint appointment in the UW-Madison’s Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and the American Indian and Indigenous Studies Program. Her research sheds light on how to achieve environmental protection that also supports Indigenous Peoples’ efforts to achieve recognition of their rights and sovereignty.

She has used ethnographic methods to examine the governance of nickel mining and refining near Indigenous Kanak communities in New Caledonia; and biodiversity conservation through ecosystem protection in New Caledonia, Malaysia, and the US. Currently, she is investigating the governance of oil and gas pipelines near Indigenous communities in the US, and solar geoengineering research on or over Indigenous lands in Sweden. She teaches Indigenous Peoples and the Environment, and Climate Change Governance.

Looking forward to seeing you on Monday, October 6!

No Kings Day
Saturday, October 18, 11 - 2

Cathedral Square
520 E Wells St, Milwaukee

In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings.

Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger and stronger. “NO KINGS” is more than just a slogan—it’s the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, carried by millions in chants and on posters, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together.

The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings, and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty. Grow our movement and join us.

Where: Cathedral Square, Milwaukee
When: 11-2 CDT, October 18, 2025

A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
