John:
Good Day from Capitol Hill.
We are in the second day of the first government shut down since 2018.
Back in March, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, out of fears for what the President could do through his Office of Management and Budget (OMB) broke ranks with his fellow liberal Senators and supplied enough votes to pass a Continuing Resolution (CR). In the aftermath of that vote, Minority Leader Schumer received major backlash, as outlined ([link removed]) by Speaker Mike Johnson when he told Maria Bartiromo: “Chuck Schumer got in a lot of political trouble because the radical left base in the Democrat Party accused him of going along with Republicans…”
Fast forward to earlier this week, when President Trump hosted the two liberal leaders, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for a meeting in the Oval Office. It has been reported that both of the liberal Minority Leaders have been advocating for extending healthcare subsidies that have been proven to flow to illegal aliens.
Liberal Congressman Ro Khanna acknowledged as much in a recent Fox Business hit where he said ([link removed]) , “The amount of money actually going towards people that are undocumented is a small portion of the Medicaid cuts of the ACA.” Liberal Congressman Maxine Waters echoed this point also this week by saying ([link removed]) , “Democrats are demanding healthcare for everybody” when responding to the question “Are Democrats demanding healthcare for illegal aliens.”
As Wade Miller, Executive Director for Citizens for Renewing America, said ([link removed]) on Bannon’s WarRoom, “I honestly don’t understand why Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer picked this fight…I don’t understand what their logic and thinking is because we now have a fully operational [Office of Management and Budget Director] Russ Vought, who would love nothing more than to enact the President’s agenda of demolishing the woke and weaponized deep state.” The liberals in Congress have handed over huge amounts of leverage to the Administration through this shutdown. Director Vought’s actions to put a hold on roughly $18 billion in New York City infrastructure project funding, specifically the Hudson Tunnel Project and the Second Ave Subway, two major projects in New York City is evidence of that.
As the shutdown continues, the Trump Administration has announced ([link removed]) plans to continue to find spending and personnel reduction options. Even mainstream reporters are declaring ([link removed]) this to be an issue the Liberals in Congress are going to have to fix.
