It’s Charlie Bailey, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia. Yesterday, Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans shut down the federal government. I know you're probably frustrated, John. So am I. Republicans control everything — the White House, the Senate, and the House. And still, they couldn't perform their jobs for the American people. But this shutdown wasn’t just avoidable — it was strategic. It’s a deliberate move by Trump and his MAGA allies to sow chaos, force devastating health care cost hikes, and consolidate power. But this will backfire. Donald Trump is more unpopular than ever — and his grip is slipping every passing day. It’s on us to turn this moment into momentum and put an end to the MAGA chaos next year. Georgia has the chance to make major gains in 2026 — in Congress, in our state legislature, in counties across Georgia. But only if we start organizing right now. This is the moment to get serious, get focused, and get moving. But if we don’t take a stand now, we risk letting this chaos continue.
