Last week the House of Representatives voted to make Washington D.C. a state. Joe proudly cast his vote to give statehood to Washington D.C.

Why? Because hundreds of thousands of Americans deserve representation, two Senators and voting representation in the House. Denying people their voice in government is voter suppression — period.

Republicans are blocking statehood for DC because voter suppression is one of their favorite tactics to win elections and stay in power. They are afraid of change and what voices will say if they are heard. That’s exactly why Joe is for expanding our electorate. We need new voices. We need new leaders. We need elected officials who will tackle the structural barriers to change head-on.

Now we must ensure this bill passes the Senate. Will you sign your name to apply public pressure to ensure D.C. becomes the 51st State?

It’s a perfect message to deliver on the eve of July 4th. There is nothing more patriotic – more fundamentally American – than the fight to ensure every voice is heard.
