1) It's Really True: Democrats' CR Demands Free Health Care For Illegal Immigrants

A major bone of contention in the government shutdown debate is on Medicaid for illegal immigrants. The Left has been denying they want taxpayers to subsidize health care for illegals. Who to believe?

You decide. Here's the exact language in the GOP reconciliation bill passed in July that the Schumer wants repealed in the budget bill:

2) Oops, The Economists Got Trumponomics All Wrong Again

Oh ye of little faith:

This chart from Torsten Slok of Apollo is stunning. The "consensus" economic forecast was for economic growth of about 1% to 1.5% for the past two quarters - way below the economy's actual performance. None of the blue-chippers came close to getting Trumponomics right.

Here is Slok's analysis and remember he is far from being a Laffer Curve disciple:

The consensus has been wrong since January. The forecast for the past nine months has been that the US economy would slow down. But the reality is that it has simply not happened, see chart below. GDP growth in the second quarter was 3.8%, and the Atlanta Fed predicts that GDP in the third quarter will be 3.9%. Yes, job growth is slowing, but this is the result of slowing immigration.

The bottom line is that the US economy remains remarkably resilient...

Now look at his chart showing the Blue Chip forecasts versus the latest numbers:

No one knows where the economy is headed from here, but we're with the investor class which keeps betting big time on the U.S. economy.

3) Voters STILL Don't Know That the Big Beautiful Bill Cut Their Family's Taxes

Republicans couldn't sell popsicles in the desert.

The Trump tax bill, passed in July, prevents a hike of about $2,000 a year for the median income family. But voters still don't know that!

This is the conclusion of pollster David Winston, and it explains why polling results show flagging support for that Beautiful Bill. Winston finds:

"Only 33 percent believe the BBB would prevent a tax increase on themselves and their families, while 48 percent said it would not.”

Voters who know THEIR OWN would be higher without it overwhelmingly support the tax bill:

So for goodness’ sake: tell the people that!

4) No Wonder There's a California Housing Shortage

This is a mega scandal and is so typical of blue state incompetence and over-regulation:

At this pace, Hiroshima will have been rebuilt faster than LA!

Did we mention that Gavin Newsom wants to run for president?

5) Lutnick's Absurd Thomas Edison Tax

UP Senor Fellow Tomas Philipson on the Secretary of Commerce's proposal to wallop patent-holders with a new 50% tax:

Joseph P. Allen is right to criticize the commerce secretary's proposed 50% tax on patent royalties resulting from federally funded grants and contracts...

When tax-exempt universities and their departments receive compensation contingent on the earnings of the companies born from specific patents, their rewards are indirectly cut by corporate or capital-gains taxes. Every subsequent shareholder investing in those companies, moreover, pays back the early investor, Uncle Sam, through income, corporate or capital-gains taxes. Such a sweet deal for an early investor is unheard of in the private sector...

An additional tax of this magnitude would dramatically cut the amount of innovation and attendant tax revenue that the government would enjoy--the same dynamic that obtained before the Bayh-Dole Act of 1980. How would reverting to that sorry state help taxpayers?
