Friend,

As COVID-19 cases continue to surge here in California and in many states across the country, I want to urge everyone celebrating this July 4th weekend to please do so safely and by adhering to local and federal health guidelines. Please wear a mask in public, do social distancing and wash your hands frequently.

This weekend is a celebration of our independence and our freedom from tyranny -- but it’s also a celebration of unity. So as we continue to combat the spread of this virus, I hope you’ll join me in upholding the values of courage, compassion and sacrifice upon which our great nation was founded.

I’m so proud to serve you in Congress and to be fighting on behalf of all working families towards a stronger, more just union.
