General Newsletter From the Office of Senator Andy Kim

Happy Friday, New Jersey!

We’re writing to you because at 12:01 am yesterday morning, we officially entered a federal government shutdown and would like to share some resources and information.

We know these are uncertain times and we hope that you know our office, to the best of our ability, is here to support you and your family.

RECAP: TELEPHONE TOWN HALL

Thank you to all who joined our telephone town hall Tuesday night. Over 6,000 people in New Jersey joined specifically to learn about the pending government shutdown and its potential impacts.

We believe it’s important to come together and have meaningful conversations about the challenges our communities are facing.

SHARING YOUR STORIES:

We've heard directly from New Jerseyans about how hard rising costs across the board have hit them, especially when it comes to meeting basic needs and paying for healthcare, groceries, utilities, tariffs, and housing. All this while corruption in government runs rampant and Republicans in the House of Representatives can’t even be bothered to show up for their jobs.

On the tele-town hall, Barbara, a New Jersey resident, begged us to not back down from this fight. Both herself and her 25-year-old medically ill daughter rely on programs like Medicaid and Medicare and will be affected by the shutdown. She recognized this moment is far too important for us not to keep fighting.

If you are being impacted by rising costs, or if you and your family will have to make some hard decisions as ACA premiums skyrocket, we want to hear from you.

Send your story to [email protected] and help us tell the story of the crisis that is unfolding.

As things remain uncertain in Washington D.C., we wanted to share some additional resources that may be helpful to you in New Jersey, now or at another point in the future.
