Friday Power Lunch: DECODING HISTORY – FIGHTING FASCISM ONE BOOK AT A TIME- Fri., Oct. 3 @ 12 PM; Zoom. This week’s Friday Power Lunch kicks off Banned Books Week with Dr. Dorri Scott, who will share research from her dissertation on book banning and its impact on young people. The program will also launch the Friday Power Lunch Banned Book Club, beginning in November under Dr. Scott’s guidance. We’ll be joined by author Patricia O’Connell Pearson, whose new book We Are Your Children Too uncovers the story of Prince Edward County, Virginia, where public schools were closed rather than integrated during the Civil Rights era. Her work highlights how history and censorship collide in shaping our understanding of democracy.
