Earlier last month, Jamaal released one of his most ambitious policy proposals to date: the Reconstruction Agenda.

The Reconstruction Agenda is a policy plan and framework to complete the work of Reconstruction and root out the systemic, institutional racism that has defined the United States since the country's inception.

Jamaal's plan calls on our country to do three things:

• Reconcile with our history: Form a truth and reconciliation commission that creates a proposal for reparations.
• Get off our necks: Do the work to transform law enforcement and our criminal justice system.
• Let us breathe: Implement historic levels of economic investment, including Medicare for All, housing justice, and canceling student debt.

Over the past few months, we have begun to see the old America of racism, corruption, and inequality begin to unravel before our eyes. The Reconstruction Agenda is designed to help address some of these points through policy and action.

As thousands continue to march in the street for Black lives, each step helps us begin the process of permanently establishing the social, economic, and political rights of a genuine multiracial democracy.

Our current moment demands a Congress ready to respond to these problems with urgency, scale, and scope — and Jamaal is ready to be a part of the Congressional leadership that will meet this challenge.
