Friends, we all know this: government shutdowns are bad for the American economy and the American people.
Millions of people in California and all around the country rely on government services every day, and our economy depends on a functioning federal government.
As we enter the second day of this reckless shutdown, I am strongly urging Congress to pass a funding bill that reopens the government and tackles the health care crisis that Trump’s so-called big, beautiful bill plunged us into.
A huge part of my work since Trump’s second term began has been protecting access to health care. As Trump has tried to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, claw back public health research funding, and illegally cut congressionally appropriated funds from state health programs — we’ve fought back every step of the way.
Now, Congress has a chance to protect health care and lower costs. To refuse to do so at the expense of its own operation is both irresponsible and immoral.
I [[link removed]] f you’re with me, please add your name today to tell congressional Republicans: Protect health care and reopen the government — NOW. [[link removed]]
Thanks for speaking out with me on this.
