First, I want to start with a heartfelt thank you.

Because of supporters like you, we reached 98% of our end-of-quarter goal. Honestly, I didn’t think we’d get that close, so it was a real relief when my team shared the final numbers. I’m very, very grateful.

Unfortunately, this news is bittersweet given the national news of the day. The United States government is officially shut down. As you know, healthcare premiums are set to double next year if Congress doesn’t act. This is a huge problem, especially in communities like mine. And yet Republicans either don’t want to deal with it, or simply don’t care. Either way, I’m incredibly frustrated it’s gotten to this point.

Now they have a decision to make - are they willing to come to the table and hash out an agreement or are they going to let our military, veterans and government workers suffer?

I truly hope a deal can be brokered soon. The last thing our families need is more instability.

I’ll keep you updated as this process unfolds.
