This has been one of those months when there was so much news, it felt overwhelming. In Kansas, Republicans have plowed ahead on a scheme to gerrymander me out of this seat. And that’s to say nothing of the chaos in DC.

As I write this, we’re a few hours into a government shutdown that is occurring as a direct result of Republican leadership’s refusal to work across the aisle on a deal that protects Kansas families from a costly shutdown.

My heart breaks for the thousands of federal employees who are either working without knowing when their next paycheck will come, and those who have been furloughed entirely — all because National Republicans have refused to come to the bargaining table and let hardworking Americans continue to access the health care they need.

With so much going wrong in our country right now, I know just how easy it would be for folks to tune out this gerrymandering push happening in Kansas. To throw in the towel and just accept it as another thing that’s gone wrong.

But that’s not what happened.

This team has stepped up in more ways than I ever could have imagined. So many of you have spoken out, contacted your state legislators, and yes, chipped in to help our campaign push back in every way possible.

Now, the Kansas GOP knows they’re playing with fire. They know if they keep pushing Donald Trump’s gerrymander in Topeka, they’ll get a fight they never expected — a fight I know we can win. And that’s all thanks to you.
