Donald Trump and House Republicans have shut down the federal government.

It's Julie Merz, Executive Director of the DCCC. We've got a lot to talk about, but let's start here:

Thank you. Late into the evening last night, the DCCC reached its end-of-quarter fundraising goal and closed our budget gap.

Tens of thousands of grassroots Democrats stepped up and gave what they could -- $3, $5, $10 at a time -- to help power this movement, flip the House for Democrats, and stop Trump. I cannot thank you all enough.

I wish I could end this message with a simple thank you, but unfortunately, America is in crisis.

Donald Trump and House Republicans have shut down the federal government.

Countless federal employees and military service members won't be paid until Republicans reopen the government, and Trump is threatening to illegally fire civil servants at critical agencies.

Let me be perfectly clear: This is a Republican shutdown.

• Donald Trump demanded his congressional puppets refuse negotiations with Democratic leaders.


• House Republicans canceled votes in the House instead of working to prevent a shutdown.


• Every single House Democrat is ready to pass a funding bill that protects your health care and fully funds the government. MAGA Speaker Mike Johnson wants this crisis, so he refuses to open the floor.

The fight to protect health care for working people, seniors, and families is a righteous battle to be a part of. As much as ever, I'm proud to be a Democrat.

But we need your help. Republicans are breaking the law and rushing to lie about the truth of this crisis. We cannot let them get away with it.

Here are two things you can do right now to help:

1. Comment and post on social media to help us break through the noise and ensure your network knows this is a Republican Shutdown.


2. Help us FLIP the House next November by chipping in $5, or whatever you can.

We're going to get through this. As long as Democrats stick together, there is not a single thing Trump and Republicans can do to stop us.
