When you seek medical care, it’s important to know you can trust your provider. That’s why oversight matters. The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) works behind the scenes to help ensure health care professionals meet the required qualifications to practice and also uphold safety and ethical standards.
Through its Health Systems Quality Assurance (HSQA) division, DOH oversees more than 500,000 licensed health care professionals and 12,000 facilities statewide. These professionals include dentists, chiropractors, mental health counselors, massage therapists, clinics, and surgical centers. HSQA’s work managing complaints and investigations helps protect patients and hold providers accountable.
