“Gaza City Exodus Is Overwhelming Relief Efforts, Aid Agencies Say”
Oct. 1, 2025

You might have heard, as the conflict in Gaza reaches new extremes, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have been forced to leave what little refuge they’d found and flee once again for survival.

This influx of people has strained resources and aid groups — including UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency — which were already stretched thin. Water is scarce, famine claims lives daily, the few health facilities left standing are barely operational and do not have the supplies or aid workers needed to respond to the overwhelming number of Gazans in need. And as is usually the case, the most vulnerable women and girls are among the most affected.

Please, will you donate now to provide urgent relief to women and girls suffering in Gaza? Your gift can scale up urgent relief and supply cash vouchers and supplements for vital nutrition support, Dignity Kits to manage periods, Mama Kits and midwives for safe births, medicines, and emergency supplies for those who need it most. A woman feeds her children in front of their tent in a displacement camp in western Gaza City.
Women and girls fear being out on the streets. They’re exposed to violence and abuse as they attempt to reach aid points and live in overcrowded, makeshift shelters that lack privacy, sanitation, and basic security measures. Desperate families are resorting to the unimaginable: sacrificing their children — sending them into dangerous labor and forcing young girls into marriage — to prevent death from starvation.
For pregnant women in Gaza, the famine means giving birth while malnourished and exhausted, to babies who are born too small, too weak or too early to survive. It means being unable to breastfeed because their own bodies don’t have the nutrients.
Women, girls, pregnant women, babies, and families need you now. Please provide urgent relief to women and girls suffering in Gaza and where it’s needed most. Your immediate donation can save lives. [[link removed]?]

We condemn the violence in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel, and hope for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire, the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas, and an end to the violence. The suffering must end and peace must prevail.

Right now, the need for aid is greater than ever in Gaza. UNFPA is one of the organizations delivering lifesaving care there — and one of the few who remain focused on pregnant mothers, women, and girls.

Your gift is a lifeline. Please act now.
