The cost of food and medical care is skyrocketing, driven by Trump’s reckless tariffs and Republican tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.
And now: a government shutdown.
Let’s be clear: This shutdown is 100% on Trump and his weak-minded Republican allies in Congress.
Here’s what a shutdown means for our country:
* 550,000–750,000 workers furloughed , with many at risk of losing their jobs permanently under this administration’s reduction-in-force agenda.
* 1.5 million workers forced to work without pay , waiting for who knows how long for back pay.
* Zero real solutions in sight.
Meanwhile:
* During a shutdown, presidential budgetary power actually expands .
* The President and Members of Congress still get paid unless they choose not to accept their checks.
* Families across America are left wrestling with uncertainty.
This shutdown doesn’t help everyday people; it only hurts them. While Trump and Congress play politics, workers are left holding the bag. Families are suffering enough already.
We need a Congress that prioritizes people over politics and a government that actually works, not one that leaves our workers and communities behind.
