Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House—and instead of working to keep our government open, they walked away from the people they were elected to serve.
When it was time to vote to fund the government and protect vital services, Democrats showed up ready to work. Meanwhile, Speaker Mike Johnson called a recess, and Republicans stayed home.
Now, Washington workers are missing paychecks, families aren't getting the benefits they rely on, farmers, schools, and community organizations are being cut off from critical funding and grants. This is nothing but political theater—and it's working Americans who are paying the price for the GOP's non-stop partisan games.
