Friend, because you stand with the Southern Poverty Law Center, you are not just reacting to hate crimes — you’re helping prevent them by exposing hate groups before they act. I hope you can take a few minutes to check out the SPLC’s Hate Map to stay informed. >> ([link removed])
The SPLC has designated October as Hate Crimes Awareness Month to alert the public, advocates and policymakers to the problem of hate crimes and press for action to prevent them.
The groups and leaders identified in our annual Hate Map spew hate for Black people, women, immigrants, Jewish people, Muslims, and low-income, Indigenous and LGBTQ+ people. And they have a bold new strategy.
The Hate Map is live: See where hate lives in modern-day America. ([link removed])

Last year, hate and extremist groups rallied in unity to attack anti-discrimination efforts by criticizing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility initiatives, or DEI.
Some resorted to threats of violence to create chaos, opening the door for political strongmen and authoritarian measures. Local communities faced militia organizing and the viral spread of hate and conspiracies online. Highly financed national right-wing advocacy organizations courted politicians and championed male supremacist thinking. And the dangerous myth of “white genocide” made its way into the mainstream.
We tracked 1,371 hate and antigovernment extremist groups across the United States in 2024 — and their supporters in high places.
This is critical: Right now, we’re not just fighting hate and extremism. We’re also fighting for our fundamental right to speak out when we see injustice. And when you fight back alongside the Southern Poverty Law Center, you’re doing more than responding to hate — you’re helping stop it at the source by shining a light on hate groups before they can cause harm.
You can start making a difference this Hate Crimes Awareness Month by joining us in sounding the alarm and fighting back against hate and extremism. Don’t forget to review our Hate Map to see where hate lives in your state. ([link removed])

Our work will be an uphill battle, but it is a deeply necessary one. Thank you for being a part of our movement to create a world where no one must fear for their safety because of who they are or where they were born.
Sincerely,
Andrea @ SPLC
