It’s Day 255 of President Trump’s second term. No one has lost their Social Security, Medicare, or veterans’ benefits in spite of constant media and leftist lies.
Fake News Lies
The fake news media was working overtime, spinning the remarks of President Trump and Secretary of War Hegseth to our nation’s top military commanders into the most outrageous lies. Thankfully, the meeting was broadcast live for the entire nation to see, and it is easy to see through the media’s lies.
Here’s a headline from USA Today: “Trump Threatens Demotions At Military Summit.” Newsweek put it this way: “Trump Threatens to Fire Generals ‘On the Spot’ if He Doesn’t Like Them.” Both of those headlines are lies.
Here’s the truth.
When President Trump began his remarks, he noted that the auditorium was very quiet because, per protocol, the admirals and generals were standing at attention but not cheering and applauding like the rallies the president is used to. So, Trump said:
“I’ve never walked into a room so silent before. This is very -- oh, don’t laugh, don’t laugh. You’re not allowed to do that. You know what, just have a good time. And if you want to applaud, you applaud. . .
“And if you don’t like what I’m saying, you can leave the room. Of course, there goes your rank, there goes your future, but you just feel nice and loose, OK, because we’re all on the same team. And I was told that, ‘Sir, you won’t hear a murmur in the room.’ I said, ‘We got to loosen these guys up a little bit.’ So, you just have a good time. . .”
That wasn’t a threat. It was a classic Trump joke! Sadly, this is a common tactic by Big Media.
Later in his remarks, President Trump said this: “And so, my message to you is very simple: I am with you, I support you, and as president, I have your backs 100%.”
Does that sound like someone threatening to fire generals “on the spot”?
Other pundits accused Secretary of War Pete Hegseth of “fat shaming” our troops and generals. Well, the only tanks in the military should be weapons, not people who look like tanks!
Other reporters literally claimed that “obviously” Trump and Hegseth don’t want women and minorities in the military. That’s ridiculous and another example of how the press tries to deeply divide America.
The reforms Hegseth announced yesterday are meant to ensure that everyone who voluntarily joins the military meets the same standards and serves based on merit, not some arbitrary DEI quota.
These distorted stories are why President Trump once called the media “the enemy of the people.”
The Enemies Within
Many media outlets also melted down when President Trump said that the first and most important priority for the military is defending the homeland from our adversaries, including “the enemies from within.”
No, Trump is not sending the First Marine Division to round up Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. He’s talking about the very real threat we’re facing from enemies “inside the gates,” which I have reported on regularly.
During the four years of the Biden/Harris regime, a highly disturbing number of young, military-aged men poured across our border, including many from China. Chinese dissidents told me in my office that the Chinese Communist Party likely has a military unit inside our country.
Every other day, there are reports that someone, often a Chinese national, has been arrested for spying. The FBI opens new investigations into Chinese spying and espionage daily.
There are other enemies inside our country. Iran has Hezbollah terrorist cells and hit squads in our country. Not that long ago, Minneapolis was the top recruiting center for jihadists. Just a few days ago, there was a memorial service marking the anniversary of Hezbollah terror leader Hassan Nasrallah’s death. Not in Beirut, but Dearborn, Michigan.
There are untold numbers of armed, violent left-wing extremist groups and revolutionary organizations that want to destroy America as we know it.
So, yes, there are enemies inside the gates, and President Trump is determined to defeat them.
In addition, we’re also seeing more and more left-wing cities openly defying federal law. It is approaching the level of defiance that Abraham Lincoln faced leading up to the Civil War. At some point, it can no longer be tolerated.
Federal facilities are being attacked in major U.S. cities. Democrat governors and mayors are telling President Trump, “We don’t want your federal troops in our cities!” The only reason federal troops are deployed is because the facilities are being attacked, and local police in these “sanctuary cities” are ordered by leftist Democrat officials to not provide assistance.
That ought to be a national scandal!
The Schumer Shutdown
The Schumer government shutdown started at 12:01 this morning. Senate Republicans tried to prevent a shutdown with a last-minute vote yesterday and again this morning. In both cases, they got a 55-to-45 majority, but they need 60 votes.
There are two “Big Lies” about the shutdown that need to be addressed.
Democrat National Committee Chairman Ken Martin tells us the first lie: “Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. If they wanted to, they could work to keep the government open.”
Martin and others saying this are counting on people never having taken a civics class or forgetting what they learned. You need 60 votes to pass a government funding bill. Republicans have 53 senators. Let’s see how the math works out: 60 - 53 = 7.
Republicans need seven Democrats to support a funding bill to keep the government open. Actually, it’s eight because Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is voting with the Democrats. Three Democrats voted with Republicans yesterday and this morning to keep the government open, so we only need five more.
But it’s a lie to claim that Republicans “control” the Senate. Democrats can effectively block us in the Senate on legislation that requires 60 votes to pass.
The second lie claims that the Schumer shutdown is not about taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal aliens. Democrats and their media allies claim illegal aliens can’t get taxpayer-funded healthcare now. That’s wrong.
Federal tax dollars are sent to the states to support Medicaid programs. Some states, like California, provide free healthcare to illegal aliens. They claim that the assistance doesn’t use federal dollars, but money is “fungible.” They are using an accounting gimmick. If states didn’t get federal money, they wouldn’t have enough state dollars to be so “generous.”
The One Big Beautiful Bill put an end to this “shell game.” In addition, there is tremendous fraud in that program. But Democrats are demanding that provisions to prevent taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal aliens and to combat fraud be repealed.
Don’t take my word for it. Maxine Waters admits it, and we have the text of the Democrat legislation to prove it. Once again, Democrats are putting illegal aliens first and the American people last.
Polling from the New York Times finds that 65% of Americans are against the Democrat shutdown of the government. If Americans understood why they were doing it, that number would be even higher.
Here’s another important point: Government funding bills are often thousands of pages long, stuffed with outrageous and obscene spending projects. This bill that Democrats are opposing is just 24 pages long. It’s a “clean bill” that keeps the government open at existing funding levels for seven weeks while negotiations continue.
Democrats are demanding another $1.5 trillion in spending be added to the bill as the price for their votes.
