Dear Neighbors –

It’s been one month since the tragic shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church, which took the lives of Fletcher Merkel and Harper Moyski and injured dozens of their classmates and parishioners. Our community has joined many other communities that have been shattered by senseless acts of gun violence. In the weeks since, we’ve heard the brave voices of the families, friends, students, community members, and people around the state who have demanded we take action to protect Minnesotans by getting weapons of war out of our communities.

I am committed to taking action to prevent gun violence and working with our community to help lead this fight. I’ve heard how important this is from many of you and that’s why Sen. Zaynab Mohamed, Rep. Samantha Sencer-Mura and I will be holding a *Community Conversation in South Minneapolis next Thursday, October 9, from 5:30-7pm, focused on gun violence prevention. *We will be joined for a conversation with community leaders, gun violence prevention advocates, and medical professionals who will share their perspective on the epidemic of gun violence in our country and the changes we need to make. We’ll also have space for your questions and ideas about taking policy and community responses to prevent gun violence.

10-9 GVP Community Conversation

The event is open to constituents and our South Minneapolis community and requires RSVPing  using this link [ [link removed] ]. We will send the South Minneapolis location information in advance of the event to those who RSVP.

I’m so grateful for our active and engaged community, who have been speaking up to end the epidemic of gun violence–it’s going to take all of us. I hope you’ll join us for our community conversation and continue to make your voice heard.

If you aren’t able to make it, or have friends, family, and community around the state who want to share their perspective, please fill out this form collecting the stories of Minnesotans [ [link removed] ] impacted by gun violence. Together, we can ensure Minnesotans’ voices are heard as we push for stronger laws.

Looking forward to seeing you next Thursday.

Best,
Emma Greenman
State Representative
