The weekend of September 19, New Jersey volunteers across the state
participated in their first Weekend of Action in support of Gun Sense
Candidates by state canvassing, making calls, and taking part in their new
favorite activity: postcarding!
The good news is we're going to keep this momentum up this weekend on the
ground in Virginia, and you can support from anywhere in the country!

signing up to phonebank to elect Gun Sense Candidates this Saturday,

In the face of heartbreak after a shooter opened fire and killed two
children and wounded 21 more people at Annunciation Catholic School, gun
safety advocates channeled their grief into action.
Students Demand Action leaders organized more than 250 walkouts in
hundreds of schools across the country to send a clear message to
lawmakers: Don't look away.
Thousands also gathered at a vigil in Lynnhurst Park, organized by student
volunteers, to honor the victims. Hundreds more rallied at the Minnesota
Capitol, demanding a ban on assault-style weapons and high-capacity
magazines. Nationwide, over 25,000 people joined the call, urging their
representatives to act to ban assault weapons. [ [link removed] ]Join them and send a

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Every month, more than 70
women in the U.S. are shot and killed by an intimate partner. Access to a
gun makes it 5x more likely that a woman will be killed in a domestic
violence situation—and nearly 6 million women have reported having a gun
used against them by a partner.
This crisis is preventable. Throughout October, we honor survivors,
remember those taken by gun-related domestic violence, and raise awareness
of the life-saving policies that can disrupt abuse before it turns deadly.
From background checks to closing loopholes and enforcing firearm
relinquishment laws, we must do everything we can to keep guns out of the
hands of abusers.

In an important win for public safety, a Chicago lawsuit aimed at holding
Glock accountable for manufacturing, marketing, and selling pistols that
can be easily turned into machine guns will move forward.
The court denied Glock's motion to dismiss, meaning discovery can now
begin in the case. The City is represented by Everytown Law and partners.
"Today's decision sends a clear message: all gun industry actors will be
held accountable," said Alla Lefkowitz, Managing Director of Affirmative
Litigation at Everytown Law. [ [link removed] ]Read more on the case.

In a major step forward for gun safety, the California State Legislature
passed AB 1127, a first-in-the-nation bill that would prohibit the sale of
handguns that can be easily converted into illegal DIY machine guns using
Glock switches.
Thanks to tireless advocacy from Moms and Students Demand Action
volunteers, supporters sent over 134,000 messages and made 2,400+ calls
urging lawmakers to act, and it worked. The bill now heads to Governor
Gavin Newsom's desk.
If signed, AB 1127 would help prevent tragedies like the 2022 Sacramento
shooting, where a converted Glock was involved in a gun battle that killed
six people and injured twelve more. This bill is a major step toward safer
communities – and is a powerful reminder that when we organize, we win.
P.S. Last month, Everytown launched Train SMART, a new gun safety training
program created by veterans who bring the military's proven principles of
firearms training, safety, and responsibility to the civilian market. Our
training courses are designed to give new and experienced gun owners
everything they need to know to protect their loved ones, hunt, and shoot
recreationally as responsibly as possible. [ [link removed] ]Sign up today.
