John, it’s Congresswoman Julie Johnson.

Early this morning, MAGA Republicans shut down the federal government.

Now, they’re pointing the finger at Democrats to distract from their unmitigated destruction of our nation. So let me be clear:

Republicans control the House.

Republicans control the Senate.

And a power-hungry, egotistical Republican controls the presidency.

Republicans own this shutdown and all of the damage that it’s inflicting on the American people.

Democrats will never support a bill that raises health care costs on middle-class families. But the harsh reality is that MAGA Republicans would much rather give a handful of their ultra-wealthy donors a tax break than make sure that their constituents have access to healthcare.

Republicans are screwing over working-class families who are struggling to afford coverage and make ends meet.

John, that’s why I’m holding the line in Washington to make sure that Republicans don’t get away with their disastrous healthcare cuts. We have to reopen the government – but not at the expense of millions of Americans, and not for the benefit of ultra-wealthy MAGA donors.

I refuse to give in to Republicans’ demands. I will always stand strong for all Texans, and I’m so grateful to have supporters like you on my team.
