John,
Trump and Congressional Republicans have driven us straight into a government shutdown. Why? Because they refuse to do the one thing working families need most: lower health care costs.
Let’s be clear: Republicans don’t care that families can’t afford prescription drugs or that premiums are spiraling out of control. They don’t care if rural hospitals close or cancer research funding dries up. As long as their billionaire donors keep cutting campaign checks, they’re fine with throwing millions of people off their health insurance.
That’s why Working Families Power and other allies are bringing people together today, October 1st at 8:30 PM ET / 5:30 PM PT for a mass call. They’ll break down the shutdown in Congress, share what’s at stake for our families, and talk about how we are organizing to fight back.

For ten straight months, Republicans have attacked our health care from every angle. They’ve:
-
Jacked up medication costs,
-
Slashed funding for life-saving medical research,
-
Put rural hospitals on the chopping block, and
-
Cut coverage for more than 15 million people.
And as of midnight last night, they have led us into a full government shutdown which they promised they would continue unless we let them raise premiums even higher.
Republicans have a simple choice: fix our health care crisis or keep the government shut down. It shouldn’t be a hard choice.
Join the mass call tonight (10/1) at 8:30 PM EST/5:30 PM PST for an update on the federal funding fight, and to discuss how we can organize collectively to support and protect our communities in this federal shutdown.

We’ve faced these fights before, and when we come together, we’ve won. We can do it again. But we need to make it clear to our leaders: we won’t accept any funding bill that throws millions off their health insurance or drives our health care costs even higher.
Will you join Working Families Power and others tonight, October 1st at 8:30 PM ET / 5:30 PM PT for a mass call to reclaim our democracy for working families?

In solidarity,
